Testing the new version of Apple's Safari, I discovered there are some really awesome features in the browser. Though the Press Release claimed that this would be the world's fastest and most innovative browser so far, but this is not my experience.
The new and flashy interfaces like 'cover folow' as we know it from Itunes / Ipod actually are far slower than the same features in Google's Chrome. naturally, Apple is talking about browsing websites and not the browsers (offline) functions, but I thought this speed was worth mentioning as well.

Apple describes that the speed is gained by techniques like the Nitro Engine:
"Using the new Nitro Engine, for example, Safari executes JavaScript nearly 8 times faster than Internet Explorer 8 and more than 4 times faster than Firefox 3 based on performance in leading industry benchmark tests: iBench and SunSpider."
The test-results show on their websites are pretty convincing but I found some articles that say otherwise.. And they are using the latest builds which I find more trustworthy.

the most important conclusion is that there are many different ways in which a browser can be fast.
If you like these new flashy functions, this browser is definitely worth a try.
